Intraoral Cameras

At the office of Tatiana Vazira DDS, we know how important it is to stay up-to-date on dental technology. We want to introduce you to two examples of the advanced tech that our dentist uses and how they can benefit you.

Intraoral Camera that is used to take images of the mouth

Let’s say that we identify a troubling condition in the digital radiograph. We can now get a closer look at that condition thanks to the intraoral camera. This device is slightly longer than a pen and has about the same width, and a tiny digital video camera stands at the tip of it. The device can enter those hard-to-reach areas in the mouth without causing you any discomfort.

Early detection is one of the benefits of this technology. We could prevent decay and disease from reaching the root of your teeth.

An intraoral camera can detect issues like:

  • Chipped and cracked teeth
  • Cavities and tooth decay
  • Gum disease

The camera is connected to a computer and can take pictures that appear at once on the screen. This will allow you to see what your mouth looks like: something that isn’t possible if the dentist uses a traditional mouth mirror. Patients often feel reassured when they see pictures rather than relying solely on the dentist’s descriptions.

As with digital radiographs, we can enhance the photographs taken by these cameras by zooming in and out and altering the contrast. With the help of such enhancement, we can reach a more confident diagnosis. Again, being digital, the photographs can be stored without any fear of them being lost. If you need pictures sent to your dental insurance provider, we’ll be happy to comply.

Oftentimes, when we provide patients with restorative products like tooth fillings, we can show them the difference we made using the camera. In all things, we want our patients to be satisfied with our honest, personalized care.
